Every time a hunting dog in miserable condition comes into our hands, we just want to say 'there's another one.'
And statistically, that's true; it's just another hunting dog that worked for someone who didn't take care of it at all, who skimped on the monthly treatment, and who was too lazy to take it to the vet when it started getting sick.
This is so widespread in our country that the only thing it shows is how far behind we are as a nation. So yes, Efi is just another hunting dog that has fallen into the filthy hands of some hunter in Greece. However, she is not just another dog for us; she is one of a kind.
We named her Effie after the volunteer who found her and saved her.
She came to us FULL of ticks and in a destitute state. She suffers from leishmaniasis, and unfortunately has already lost one of her eyes. The other one is probably salvageable.
She doesn’t see well, but she is lively, happy, and has all the characteristics of her breed. She is gentle, trusts you, walks with her tail wagging and her nose down, and is very affectionate.
Once she completes her treatment, she will be ready for a real home, her first one essentially.
