From Tuesday, March 26th to Friday, March 29th, the non-profit organization Save a Greek Stray, in collaboration with the Municipality of Pyrgos, visited primary schools to inform, educate, and raise awareness among students on issues related to stray animals and the management of companion animals. Training sessions will also be held in the secondary schools of the Municipality. This initiative follows a program designed for the region of Ilia, which began the previous school year with the Municipality of Andravida.

The students of Pyrgos schools attended the organization's educational program approved by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, designed for children aged 6-11, titled "Following a Quadruped Friend: The World of Pets."

Specifically, the program aims to cultivate sensitivity, compassion, and responsibility in our young friends towards the animals around us. Through a series of activities, games, interactive presentations, and group actions, children learn about the needs of stray and owned companion animals, the importance of their care, as well as ways to protect and assist them.

Through targeted presentations, children became acquainted with companion animals and their habits, familiarized themselves with their language, and understood the commonalities and differences in the world of humans and animals. Additionally, through play, they learned and understood rules, safe approaches through correct and incorrect practices, and harmonious coexistence with animals.

Finally, the program focused on the responsibility we have towards animals, whether as owners or as ordinary citizens, and introduced the Save a Greek Stray shelter. Children learned about the actions of animal welfare organizations, the role of the SGS shelter, the concept of adoption, welfare, and friendship between humans and animals.

The participation of children in the entire process was significant, and the interaction was meaningful. Educating children, especially those in primary education, about stray animals is a matter of profound importance and multidimensional value, as it contributes to their character development, social awareness, and sense of responsibility.
