Imagine a medium-sized Setter, with all the character of Setters, with that long, smooth coat, the bushy tail, the ears, everything, really.
Now paint it pitch black. Tar-black, ebony, blue-black, whatever you want to call it, and once you’ve painted it, leave one or two white tufts on the chin and the chest and on one paw, as if you ran out of black paint just when you were almost done and were too lazy to open another container.
That is Hermes. A sort of Setter, but almost completely black, as happy and energetic as he needs to be, as gentle as he should be, and occasionally a little crazy, but not unbearably so.
He is a dog that craves human contact and all the things he can do with people: walks, play, cuddles, companionship, everything. He has the full desire to do, to live, to learn; he wants to live, to love, and to be loved.
With proper daily exercise, some house rules, a schedule, a routine, and a little patience, Hermes will become a wonderful pet who will love you and whom you will love very much.
