One day he entered the property alone and decided to stay. In October of '25, we had a four-day spay/neuter campaign at the shelter, and the door opened and closed countless times a day, with vans and trucks coming and going, bringing dogs and taking dogs for reintegration.

One of the times he found the door open, he went in. And he stayed.

He made it all the way up to the shelter, went inside, walked up and down the entire hallway, weaving between crates, veterinarians, and volunteers, stopping for pets and then up and down again. It was as if he were just passing by, found a party and joined, and in his excitement, he didn't know what to do.

He entered the property one day by himself and decided to stay.

Achilles is old and deaf. From the joy of finding us, he keeps going back and forth constantly whenever something new happens at the shelter - someone comes, someone enters, some people sit for a few minutes and talk. He is so happy that he does a victory lap around, then comes for pets, buries his snout and his whole body into you, receives pets, and then leaves again.

And again, back and forth. When it is calm, he goes into the office and sleeps.

He is very sociable, very tender, and has zero sense of danger. He approaches all dogs without hesitation, and in the first days, he followed every volunteer on every walk, until we realized that he would both exhaust himself and cannot understand if a dog is unfriendly, putting himself at risk.

Every time he lifts his eyes while relaxing and sees that something is happening in the area, he immediately gets up as if the party he discovered on the first day is still going on and he doesn't want to miss a moment.
